PQS, Prime Therapeutics team up in drug-adherence project

Pharmacy Quality Solutions (PQS) said on Monday that it will partner with Prime Therapeutics LLC to improve medication-use regimens through collaboration with prescription-drug plans and community pharmacies.

"Prime's work with PQS supports our purpose in helping people get the medicine they need to feel better and live well," Scott Fries, senior vice president of government programs at Prime, said. "Together with the health plans we serve, we recognize the importance of providing pharmacies with the data and resources necessary to improve performance in the areas of medication adherence and patient safety. We expect that this will empower the pharmacies to further focus their efforts on the quality-related issues of greatest importance to our Medicare and Medicaid plans."

Beginning in the second quarter of 2015, Prime will display quality-measurement data for the Medicare and Medicaid plans that it serves to community pharmacies through PQS’ EQuIPP platform, which will help pharmacies improve medication-related quality measures, including those involved in Medicare Star Ratings.

EQuIPP collects data from multiple pharmacies and health plans to measure the quality of medication use and acts as a neutral intermediary for benchmarking and quality measurement.

"We are excited to collaborate with Prime Therapeutics to display health plan performance information through EQuIPP to their retail community pharmacies," David Baker, vice president of managed care for PQS, said.
