Florida hires AIS to inspect, certify nonresident compounding pharmacies
The board requires nonresident compounding pharmacies to undergo an approved inspection before they can receive a state permit for nonresident sterile compounding.
“AIS is committed to working with state boards of pharmacy and compounding pharmacies to facilitate the highest-quality of patient care and safety,” ACHC CEO José Domingos said. “Florida’s efforts to ensure the safety of compounded medications in their state are commendable, and we look forward to working with the state board of pharmacy to provide assurance for their residents.”
AIS, launched as a division of the Accreditation Commission for Health Care in November 2014, evaluates the compounding process according to a predetermined set of criteria. AIS Inspectors who are experienced in pharmacy compounding conduct the inspections.
