Inside Pharmacy journal introduced for health care professionals

Inside Pharmacy, a journal that compiles pertinent information such as clinical, business and regulatory issues for nurse practitioners, physician's assistants and pharmacy managers, was recently introduced by The Lynx Group.

Published six times in 2014, Inside Pharmacy is mailed to more than 77,000 pharmacy managers, clinical and retail pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Article submissions for 2015 are still being accepted.

“The emergence of clinics within the retail pharmacy space to support the current health care system will continue to drive patients, customers and shoppers into the store," Inside Pharmacy editor-in-chief Don Dietz said. "Inside Pharmacy will assist the new health care team responsible for their care and coordination with the rest of the provider network. This is a new, innovative journal for the whole pharmacy.”

The aim of Inside Pharmacy is to assist health care and pharmacy workers to adjust as more and more retail pharmacies transition into being health care delivery centers. Subjects addressed in the journal will include the recruitment and retention of customers, how to address patient queries about health and wellness, and acute care diagnosis and treatment.

"There is enormous opportunity for retail pharmacies to become an important player in the healthcare delivery system ... retail health can provide access for general primary care needs,” MinuteClinic CVS Caremark Chief Medical Officer Nancy Gagliano.

The need for a resource like Inside Pharmacy is due to sweeping changes in the pharmacy and health care industries, Inside Pharmacy Publisher John Hennessy said.

"The roles of every traditional health care stakeholder are being redefined, and their viability depends upon their ability to adapt to the sea change in the health care system,” Hennessy said.
