The American Pharmacists Association has just published the fourth edition of “Peripheral Brain for the Pharmacist,” a reference used by student pharmacists and practitioners.
“Peripheral Brain for the Pharmacist” is an assortment of more than 35 core reference materials that are printed on lab-coat-pocket-size, laminated cards that are hole-punched with a metal ring to hold the collection together. The reference cards provide concise clinical information that student pharmacists and practicing pharmacists frequently look up.
The reference materials are color-tabbed to facilitate faster searches for similar information.
Clinical information topics featured in the reference guide include:
• Calculations and creatinine clearance equations
• Opioid conversions
• Antibiotic dosing
• Treatment guidelines on high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, asthma, infectious diseases and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Target serum drug concentrations
• Aminoglycoside and vancomycin management
• Immunization schedules
• Warfarin interactions
• Special population recommendations
