The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and CVS Health are forming a partnership in order to promote the use of an online tool that can suggest preventative care services, they announced Tuesday.
The tool uses age and gender information to provide recommendation for preventative care services based on information from clinical professionals.
According to the announcement CVS Health is the first national partner to work with the department on this venture, and they have incorporated it into their own website.
"We know that prevention is key to helping families stay healthy, so we are pleased to work with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to give people easy access to more information about the preventive services clinically recommended for them," Dr. Andrew Sussman, MinuteClinic President and Executive Vice President/Associate Chief Medical Officer of CVS Health, said. "Many of these recommended preventive services are conveniently delivered at MinuteClinic, where we can coordinate with a patient's primary care physician, and many preventive services are covered by health insurance, making it even easier for people to stay on their path to better health."
HHS states that many citizens that have insurance are able to utilize these kinds of services without co-pays or other out of pocket costs. They also state that these area also covered by cost sharing measures in the Affordable Care Act.
