Kit Check unveiled a new cloud-based enterprise-reporting software for hospital pharmacies on Monday.
Because it is stored on the web, information on pharmacy kits is not limited to a single computer or an individual. This new system also incorporates Tableau's analytic platform to allow pharmacy staff to access kit-use data.
“Pharmacists have been flying blind for years when it comes to pharmacy-kit medication use," Ramsey Chambers, Kit Check's vice president of product management, said. "Both manual processing and stand-alone systems trap data in someone’s head or a PC, and it is not available for management decision making. Kit Check runs from the cloud, which means all medication life cycle and kit data are available from any computer. It can show information from a single site or a roll-up across an entire hospital system."
The system also will allow tracking in cases of a drug recall or if expired medication needs to be removed from the pharmacy kit's supply. Doug Zurawski, Kit Check's vice president for sales, said data availability is becoming increasingly important as pharmacy operations in hospitals are complex and can be costly.
The new system will be demonstrated at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists' (ASHP) summer meetings in Denver.
