The Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM), and the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science (APhA-APRS) recently held elections for their leadership teams.
APhA-APPM elected Sarah Ray of Mequon, Wisconsin as president-elect (2016-2017). In addition, Sandra Bollinger of Sikeston, Missouri; Nicole M. Gattas of Saint Charles, Missouri; and James A. Kirby of Cincinnati, Ohio were elected as 2016-2018 APhA-APPM Executive Committee members-at-large.
APhA-APRS elected Eric J. Jarvi of Bangor, Maine as 2016-2017 APhA-APRS Basic Sciences Section chair-elect; Kimberly Scarsi of Omaha, Nebraska as 2016-2017 APhA-APRS Clinical Sciences Section chair-elect; and Salisa C. Westrick of Auburn, Alabama as 2016-2017 APhA-APRS Economic, Social and Administrative Sciences (ESAS) Section Chair-Elect.
Ray is assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Concordia University Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. She also is a clinical pharmacist at Milwaukee Health Services and a graduate of Creighton University. She is the anticoagulation section editor for the APhA DrugInfoLine and is a member of several pharmacy organizations, including the International Pharmaceutical Federation, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin and the Greater Milwaukee College of Clinical Pharmacy.
Gattas is associate professor of pharmacy practice and coordinator of Community Pharmaceutical Care Programs at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. She is an active member of the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM), and participates in a number of APhA-APPM special interest groups. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.
Bollinger earned her BSPharm from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and her PharmD from Creighton University. She holds adjunct faculty positions for both schools, in addition to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. She is an active member of a number of professional organizations and has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.
Kirby is the clinical services coordinator for the Kroger Company. He received his BSPharm from The Ohio State University and his PharmD from the University of Cincinnati. He is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist, a certified diabetes educator and an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati.
Jarvi is associate dean of the Husson University School of Pharmacy in Bangor, Maine. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Services from Southern Illinois University, a Masters in Forensic Science from George Washington University, and a PhD in Pharmacology/Toxicology from Oregon State University. His career in pharmacy education has spanned 30 years.
Scarsi is an associate professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy and an HIV pharmacotherapy specialist. She earned her PharmD from Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and earned her Master of Science degree in clinical investigation from Northwestern University.
Westrick is associate professor of Health Outcomes Research and Policy at Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. She received her BSPharm from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, her MS in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University, and her PhD in Social and Administrative Sciences in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has served as an associate editor for the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association since January 2014.
The new officers for both associations will be installed during the 163rd APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Baltimore, Maryland March 4-7, 2016.
