McKesson Ventures appoints new managing director

McKesson Ventures, the venture capital arm of McKesson Corporation, on Monday announced that Dave Schulte has been appointed managing director, effective Sept. 8.

Schulte joins McKesson from Kaiser Permanente Ventures where he served as vice president and managing director.

In his role at McKesson, Schulte will be responsible for co-leading the development and management of the McKesson Ventures portfolio alongside Tom Rodgers, group leader, senior vice president and managing director.

“Dave is a well-respected, active investor in the areas of healthcare where we are focused, and adding him to the team will help us continue to grow the fund and develop our portfolio,” Rodgers said. “At Kaiser Permanente, he demonstrated how a strategic investor can optimize its partnership with early stage companies to build value for both sides.”

Schulte has over 17 years of experience as an investor and investment banker. He joined Kaiser Permanente Ventures in 2003 and helped build the investment program from $20 million to $400 million of assets under management. Schulte led Kaiser Permanente Ventures’ investment team, whose IT and Digital Health investments include: Ginger.io, Health Catalyst, Ingenious Med, KitCheck, MetricStream, Omada Health, Proteus Digital Health, Validic and Rock Health’s seed fund.

Prior to Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Schulte was a software and healthcare investment banker at J.P. Morgan, UBS and Piper Jaffray. He graduated from St. John's University and earned a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University.
