MedTrak acquires Smith Premier Services, expands PBM reach
The terms of the acquisition weren’t released.
MedTrak provides a full suite of PBM services designed to meet the needs of middle-market self-insured employers. The acquisition expands MedTrak's reach to the southeastern U.S., and Smith Premier will continue to operate out of its South Carolina location.
“Similar to Smith Premier, MedTrak has an outstanding reputation for client and member satisfaction,” MedTrak Services CEO Larkin O’Keefe, said. “This acquisition allows Smith Premier to provide an expanded set of products and services, so their clients can better compete in an ever-changing health care marketplace. It helps MedTrak expand our service offerings on the East Coast as we continue toward our goal of becoming the premier PBM for smaller employers across the nation.”
Smith Premier customers will benefit from MedTrak's service organization and clinical programs. They also will gain access to an expanded portfolio of analytics, PBM technologies and the enterprise purchasing power of Envision Rx.
“Teaming with MedTrak lets us offer the improved products, services and insights our clients need,” Mike Webb, president of Smith Premier, said. “We are looking forward to partnering with MedTrak as part of the EnvisionRx organization to help small and medium-size businesses across the region continue to grow and provide their members with improved prescription coverage and quality care.”
