Walgreens began offering same-day prescription delivery Monday for customers at select Dallas stores through its new partnership with crowdsourced last-mile logistics company Deliv.
The service makes it easier for drugstore chain customers to access their medicines since they can now have prescriptions delivered to their home at a time of their choosing regardless of the method used to order or refill the prescription -- whether it be by phone, app, website or in-person at their local pharmacy.
"We are always looking for new ways to offer customers ultimate convenience," Dov Shenkman, group vice president of global inventory and transportation of Walgreens, said. "Delivery where customers want it, when they want it, is one way to engage with customers and remove some friction from their daily living."
Deliv provides similar delivery services to approximately 4,000 national and regional retailers, including Bloomingdale's and Macy's. The California-based start-up is happy to add Walgreens to its list.
"Walgreens exemplifies forward thinking and putting the customer first at every level," Deliv CEO Daphne Carmeli said. "The Deliv team is thrilled to play an important role as Walgreens continues its efforts to improve the health and happiness of its customers."
The same-day prescription delivery service is currently available in more than 60 Dallas-area Walgreen stores.
