Cardinal Health Foundation offers grant funding for drug disposal programs
The Generation Rx Medication Disposal Grant Program seeks to reduce prescription drug misuse by financially backing promotion and education efforts related to the proper disposal of unused or expired medications. The program is offering grants from $10,000 to $25,000 to applicants whose efforts would increase awareness of preventing the misuse of prescription drugs, show the significance of properly disposing medications and involve young individuals and pharmacists in the disposal program.
Applications for the grant program must submitted electronically by Jan. 22, 2016.
"The Generation Rx Medication Disposal Grant Program helps support our communities as they strive to prevent the misuse of prescription medications," Cardinal Health Community Relations Director Betsy Walker said. "Proper medication disposal is a simple way adults can help keep their families safe, so it is critical for communities to have the support to offer medication disposal options."
The Cardinal Health Foundation has contributed more than $4.7 million in partnerships and grants since 2009.
Generation Rx is a partnership between Cardinal Health Foundation and the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy dedicated to educating people of all ages about the dangers associated with misusing prescription drugs. Generation Rx offers free educational materials to anyone wanting to learn about safe medication practices.
