URAC reaccredits Diplomat Pharmacy as a specialty pharmacy
Diplomat is the nation's largest independent specialty pharmacy and provides personalized medication therapies to individuals battling chronic and rare conditions as well as those with specialized needs.
URAC accredits organizations that offer high-quality standards of health care. Specialty pharmacy accreditation is given to pharmacies that have a minimum of one non-retail prescription intake processing site as well as at least one dispensing site that distributes through mail carrier.
The accrediting organization uses standards and measures developed by a group of industry stakeholders with specialty pharmacy standards, including pharmacy operations, specialty drug management, customer service and patient management.
"URAC's mission to promote continuous improvements in the quality and efficiency of health care management aligns with our mission to support patients in the quality of their care," Jennifer Hagerman, Diplomat Pharmacy's associate vice president of education and quality, said.
Besides speciality pharmacy, URAC features various other accreditation programs, such as those for health plans, case management, clinical integration and pharmacy quality.
"We are extremely proud to have received reaccreditation as a specialty pharmacy provider for URAC," Diplomat Pharmacy President Gary Kadlec said. "This demonstrates our continued education and commitment to achieve high clinical service standards of quality and accountability."
