Aetna enters into five-year deal with AMS Cardiology

Health care benefits company Aetna recently entered into an agreement with Abington Medical Specialists/AMS Cardiology to provide individuals with quality care at an affordable cost.

The five-year contract, which will go into effect on March 15, will give Aetna members enrolled in commercial and Medicare Advantage plans access to AMS Cardiology physicians at in-network rates. The comprehensive cardiovascular practice is dedicated to preventing and treating the various aspects of cardiovascular disease for patients at Abington Memorial Hospital.

“We feel confident this agreement will help us continue to provide top-quality care for our patients,” AMS Cardiology President Adam Cohen said. “It is essential, now more than ever, for health care providers and insurers to work together in the mission of delivering outstanding and affordable care for the people in our community. Extending the relationship between Aetna and AMS Cardiology is a positive step toward achieving that goal.”

Aetna said it is happy to have signed the deal with AMS Cardiology.

“Network stability is very important to our members, especially in critical specialties such as cardiology," Laurie Brubaker, president of Aetna's operations in Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, said. "We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with these physicians.”
