The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) recently acknowledged the accomplishments of 11 pharmacy students for their leadership on campus and in the pharmacy practice setting by awarding them with the ASHP Student Leadership Award.

They were given the award due, in part, to professional work experience, internships and other achievements.

The ASHP Student Leadership Award is sponsored by the ASHP and the ASHP Research and Education Foundation. It is presented to students in pharmacy school who are in their second through fourth professional year of participation. Each recipient will be given a plaque, an ASHP drug information reference library and a cash prize of $2,000.

The class of 2016 winners are Danielle Beltz, Northeastern Ohio Medical University; Jillian DeGuzman, Palm Beach Atlantic University; Valerie Nolt, University of Pittsburgh; Tyler Vest, University of Cincinnati; and Mary Vincent, The Ohio State University.

The class of 2017 winners are Evan Colmenares, University of North Carolina; Kiri Golleher, Pacific University; Brian Hancock, University of Charleston; and Katherine Sencion, University of Illinois at Chicago.
