The "mHealth" mobile application allows health care workers to provide information and counseling to pregnant women and new mothers.
“Baxter’s efforts to increase access to health care extends beyond donations in underserved communities, and the development of the mobile health application exemplifies our commitment to improving community health at the root level,” Anish Bafna, region head for Emerging Asia at Baxter, said. “This is a major step forward in ensuring women recognize when to seek medical care and improving overall household preventative health measures.”
During the initial rollout, 24 social health activist workers and 12 junior health assistant female staff received training in the use of the mHealth application. The workers will be able to monitor approximately 3,000 pregnant women and 2,800 children.
The application will help workers track the women's health status and their children's immunizations. The mothers will also receive counseling and health care information via the audio and video multimedia functions of mHealth.
