The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) announced the election of H-E-B Chief Merchant and CFO Martin Otto as the new chairman of the board at its annual meeting on April 18.
Otto served the previous year as vice president. He succeeds Hy-Vee Inc. President and CEO Randy Edeker.
"It is a pleasure to welcome Martin as chairman of the NACDS Board of Directors," NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson said. "Martin has generously and energetically contributed his leadership to NACDS as a member of the board and as an officer, and the entire H-E-B team has a legacy of strong engagement in all facets of NACDS' work."
Elected to one-year terms were Walgreen Company President Alex Gourlay as vice chairman and Albertson's Companies SVP Mark Panser as Treasurer. Panser and Walmart SVP Carmen Bauza were also added to the executive committee.
Added to the 26 member board of directors were Genoa COO David Vucurevich, Meijer Inc. President Rick Keyes, Shopko Stores Operating Company LLC EVP Andre Persaud, Wakerfern Food Corp./ShopRite SVP Chris Lane and Walmart Health and Wellness SVP George Riedl. The six new members of the board will serve three-year terms.
