The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) announced this week that nominations are open for the 2016 Pinnacle Awards.
The Pinnacle
Awards honor the individual pharmacists, groups and agencies that have provided
contributions to health care quality through their work with medications and
medication use.
The APhA Foundation's Quality Center started the Pinnacle Awards in 1998. Nominated by their peers, the nominees are leaders and innovators in the pharmacy profession, researchers and health care organizations.
There are three categories: Individual; Group Practices, Health Systems and Health Care Corporations; and Voluntary Health Agencies, Non-Profits, Associations, Government Agencies and Public or Private Partnerships. The Individual award recognizes individuals whose careers have exemplified leadership in their field while enhancing the quality of health care and medication use.
The group award recognizes contributions to scientific knowledge of medications and quality improvement projects, while the final category acknowledges the work of health organizations that help patients and caregivers receive the full benefit of their medication regimes.
The nominations are due by 11:59 PST on Sunday, June 19. They can be submitted here. The nomination must include the nomination form and a nomination packet that describes the individual or organization, the work or project that fulfills the award criteria, supporting data and letters of support. In addition, up to 10 pages of supplemental materials can be submitted with the nomination. Self nominations are accepted.
The 2016 Pinnacle Awards ceremony will be held on Sept. 19 at the APhA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
