Prime recently welcomed its summer interns to its paid, full-time corporate program as 13 college juniors and seniors were greeted by Prime President and CEO Jim DuCharme.
At the welcome event for the interns, DuCharme pointed out Prime's culture of teamwork and service. He also shared Prime's five- to 10-year goal of leading the patient-centered specialty drug management market.
“Internships are a two-way mirror. We aim to develop a relationship with you, and you get to learn about us," DuCharme said.
The interns' backgrounds range from auditing to pharmacy to public relations and communications. The internships at Prime provide an opportunity to "learn the ropes" in a corporate environment.
“I feel like I’m a part of something big," Iowa State University public relations and communications major Kia PeKarna said. “I’m helping people on a daily basis. People are always working together.”
The on-the-job training combined with Prime's customer-focused culture helps the interns apply and expand the skills obtained in college.
“During my internship, I hope to better understand health care regulation and state legislature," Connor Frederick said. "I’m attending St. Thomas Law School in the fall, so having a background in health care will help me grow as a first-year law student."
