Virginia Cancer Specialists (VCS) recently announced that it has been recognized by the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) because of its dedication to ensuring patients participate in high-quality clinical trials.
VCS is one of only three community oncology practices in the nation to be recognized.
“We are pleased to recognize Virginia Cancer Specialists with the Clinical Trials Participation Award, aimed at honoring community practices that bring cutting-edge, clinical cancer research to their patients,” Conquer Cancer Foundation Board of Directors Chairman Dr. Thomas G. Roberts, Jr. said. “Through participation in clinical trials, Virginia Cancer Specialists not only brings support and groundbreaking therapies to its local community, but also directly contributes to cancer research at large.”
The VCS, which is Northern Virginia’s premier cancer care center that has served its patients for more than 40 years, will be receiving the Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO Clinical Trials Participation Award. Along with the award, the VCA Research Institute will also be honored due to contributing to the improvement of cancer care through research conducted clinically in a setting based in a community.
The Clinical Trials Participation Award was established in 2003.
