Military pharmacies focal point for APhA seminar

The American Pharmacists Association recently hosted 650 pharmacists at its 2016 Joint Federal Pharmacy Seminar in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
The theme of this year's event was "Leadership through Service," which focused on the branches of the Armed Forces in pharmacy and health care. Attendee included Public Health Service pharmacy communities, the Veterans Health Administration, the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard, and Canadian Force pharmacists.
 “I believe that this era is truly the opportunity of a lifetime for our profession,” APhA President Jean-Venable (Kelly) R. Goode said. “Congratulations to all of you for driving innovation in patient care models that are advancing our profession.”
During the three-day conference, senior leaders in the federal pharmacy field discussed strategies and the goals to meet them, as well as joint and service-specific initiatives, public health and pharmacy practice performance measures.
Attendees of JFPS 2016 received more than 21 hours for continuing pharmacy education.
