Health care supply distributor McKesson Corp. of San Francisco has completed its acquisition of CoverMyMeds LLC, an Ohio-based source of electronic authorization technology for medical providers and pharmacists.
McKesson, presently fifth on the Fortune 500, operates internationally to provide health care supply chain management systems, information technology, and leadership in retail pharmacy, oncology and specialty care.
With 70,000 employees spanning 16 nations, McKesson Corp. collaborates with manufacturers, distributors, pharmacies, governments and other entities to best serve patients safely and efficiently.
CoverMyMeds extends services to over 700,000 providers, including EHRs, PBMs and health plans, pharmacy systems and individual pharmacy providers.
Fortune recently named the firm as the most admired company in the health care wholesale field. In addition, McKesson earned designations as a best place to work by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation; as a military-friendly business by Military Friendly; and as a top employer for healthy lifestyles by The National Business Group on Health.
McKesson practices a set of shared standards called ICARE, a company-wide foundation of values geared to “better health for all,” according to its website.
