The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) has unveiled two new episodes of the "Show Me" reality series. The program, which began in 2022, is modeled after popular TV makeover shows and focuses on pharmacists improving specific areas of their business. The latest episodes focus on maternal vaccination programs.
The new episodes follow 38th Street Pharmacy in Austin, Texas, owned by Matthew Warnken, who aims to expand their maternal vaccine offerings. Hannah Fish, PharmD, the NCPA senior director of strategic initiatives, visits the pharmacy alongside coaches Rannon Ching from Tarrytown Pharmacy and local OB-GYN Julia Gutierrez, MD. They work with Warnken to develop strategies for patient outreach, addressing vaccine hesitancy, collaborating with local healthcare providers, and efficiently integrating the vaccine program into the pharmacy’s operations.
These episodes show whether Warnken can incorporate maternal vaccines successfully into his business. The series is available on NCPA’s YouTube channel, NCPAvids. "Show Me" is produced by the NCPA Innovation Center, with Pfizer’s support. More information can be found on ncpa.org/show-me.
Moreover, the NCPA Innovation Center, in partnership with Atrium24, provides additional resources for pharmacies wishing to enhance their maternal vaccine programs. They offer a customizable "dear doctor" letter designed to foster partnerships with healthcare providers, highlighting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccination recommendations and the pharmacy's convenience and trustworthiness for pregnant patients.
The National Community Pharmacists Association was established in 1898. It represents over 18,900 pharmacies across the United States and advocates for community pharmacists who employ more than 205,000 individuals. Community pharmacies are regarded as some of the most accessible healthcare providers in America. More information about the association is available at www.ncpa.org.
