The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has introduced the MiBusiness Registry Portal, a new online platform aimed at enhancing business filing services in the state. This system replaces the previous business filing platform and aims to streamline processes for Michigan businesses.
LARA Director Marlon I. Brown stated, "This new system offers an improved experience for our business customers. The MiBusiness Registry Portal allows individuals and organizations to handle their business filings with greater ease and confidence."
The portal consolidates several services into one location, including business entity formation, online submission of annual reports and statements, requesting certificates and document copies, as well as searching for and viewing business records. Developed with assistance from a vendor experienced in implementing similar technology in other states, the portal is designed to be user-friendly and responsive to modern business needs.
To utilize the portal, users are required to log in with a MiLogin for Business account. Significant changes include mandatory online filing of annual reports and statements; paper forms will no longer be accepted. Reminder postcards will be sent to businesses not yet registered for email notifications.
Additionally, all requests for certificates and document copies must now be submitted through the portal as telephone orders have been discontinued. Accessing records using a CID and PIN is no longer available; secure login via MiLogin for Business is now necessary.
A new shopping cart feature allows users to pay for multiple filings simultaneously, reducing the need for individual payments.
The launch of the MiBusiness Registry Portal marks a significant upgrade in managing Michigan's business records and filings.
