South Dakota WIC services are continuing without interruption, according to the South Dakota Department of Health. Melissa Magstadt, Secretary of Health, stated, “There is no disruption to South Dakota WIC services. Our dedicated WIC team continues to provide support and services to families across the state, and participants should attend their scheduled appointments as usual.”
The department is closely monitoring the ongoing federal government shutdown and is maintaining communication with federal partners. Officials have said that participants will be informed immediately if there are any changes.
The WIC program in South Dakota offers families access to healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and links to community resources.
Secretary Magstadt added, “We understand that times of uncertainty can cause concern. We want to reassure South Dakota families that WIC services remain available and uninterrupted. Our top priority is ensuring families continue to receive the care and nutrition resources they rely on.”
