The SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act of 2025 has been signed into law. The legislation renews funding for programs focused on the prevention, treatment, and recovery from substance use disorder and mental health conditions.
The new law expands support resources available to first responders and increases employment services for individuals in recovery. It also temporarily allows a regional technician assistance center to aid the National Peer-Run Training and Technical Assistance Center for Addiction Recovery Support.
In addition, the act directs the United States Department of Health and Human Services to enhance protections for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline program against cybersecurity threats. It establishes a Federal Interagency Work Group on Fentanyl Contamination of Illegal Drugs, and requires a review of how approved products containing buprenorphine and naloxone are scheduled.
