The Georgia Board of Pharmacy reminded pharmacy licensees on April 24 that Georgia law and the Board’s Policy #14 allow for the refill of certain medications for up to 30 days during the current State of Emergency declared by Governor Kemp.

This policy applies to persons in areas affected by the emergency and is consistent with relevant sections of state law, including O.C.G.A. §§ 26-4-80(f) and 26-4-80(j), as well as the Governor’s Emergency Declaration.

The Board said this approach follows previous statements made during hurricanes and severe weather emergencies. The intent is to ensure continued access to necessary medications for those impacted by natural disasters or other crises covered under a State of Emergency.

No additional background or further details were provided in this statement.
