L. David Sparks, chairman of the board of Precision Health Holdings and former chief executive officer of Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA), died on May 9 at the age of 82 due to complications from congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to a May 11 announcement.
Sparks was recognized as a leader who played a significant role in shaping both his organization and the compounding pharmacy industry. His passing is being mourned by colleagues, friends, and many across the field.
"Dave was a respected leader whose vision, integrity and dedication helped shape our organization and touched countless people across the compounding pharmacy industry. He will be remembered not only for his extraordinary contributions but also for the generosity, wisdom and care he brought to those around him," said representatives from Precision Health Holdings.
The company confirmed that leadership transitions are already in place: Jim Smith continues as CEO of Precision Health Holdings; Gus Bassani remains CEO of PCCA USA; and leadership teams across PCCA USA, Canada, Australia, UK as well as Eagle and Wilcrest Pharma remain engaged in daily operations. "Our companies are stable, our mission is unchanged, and Dave’s work continues through the people and culture he helped shape," said company officials.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Sparks will be announced when details become available.
