The Cannabis Regulatory Agency announced on May 14 that it will hold a second public comment period and public hearing regarding proposed changes to the marijuana administrative rules. The agency said this follows an initial round of public engagement in April and May 2025, which generated over 700 individual suggested changes.
The CRA said it made more than 120 modifications to the rules after reviewing feedback from stakeholders, with some of these changes described as substantial. The decision for another round of comments comes due to the scope of the revisions, the time elapsed since the first hearing, and requirements set by law.
"From the beginning of this process, the CRA has sought to be as transparent and communicative as possible. This step will provide interested parties with an opportunity to review and comment on the many changes made after the first hearing," according to a statement from the agency.
The date for this new hearing has not yet been set but will be announced soon. The CRA also plans to release both an updated draft of its rules and a version showing tracked changes so stakeholders can clearly see what was revised.
Once details are finalized, additional notifications with links to relevant documents will be sent out by the agency. Observers expect that these steps may lead to further adjustments before any final adoption of new regulations.
